Gemma Berenguer is a professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a Ramón y Cajal researcher. She received her doctorate in Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley. She also holds a Master's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLC), a Master's degree in Economics (Barcelona GSE), and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (UPC BarcelonaTech). Before joining Carlos III, she was an assistant professor at Purdue University.

Her main research topics are supply chain management in non-profit organizations, sustainable operations, and supply chain design. She teaches at the undergraduate, master's, and executive levels in the areas of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and Sustainable and Socially Responsible Operations. She has experience collaborating with private, public, and non-profit organizations in the global health, consumer goods, transportation, electronics, and solar energy sectors. She has published in journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, M&SOM, Production and Operations Management (POM), and Journal of Operations Management. She is a Senior Editor of the Operations Research Journal and POM Journal, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Decision Sciences Journal. Among her various achievements, she has won the Skinner Award for best article in POM Journal (2018) and the SOLA Informs Biannual Award for best Doctoral Thesis (2014).

Gemma is the Vice Dean of the Bachelor's Degree in Business and Technology at UC3M. She was also the president of the Public Sector Operations Research (PSOR) Section at INFORMS in 2023 and has been Vice President for Europe at POMS (2022-2024).
