Maria J. Sanchez-Bueno is Associate Professor in Management at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Accredited as Full Professor by ANECA since 2021). She worked previously at Salamanca University (Spain).

Her research focuses on family firms, entrepreneurship and strategy (strategic management), addressing key current challenges and societal needs. Her research has been published in leading international journals (ABDC, ABS, Financial Times, JCR, UT Dallas) including, among others, British Journal of Management, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Family Business Review, Group & Organization Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Industrial and Corporate Change, International Business Review, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, Organization Studies, Strategic Management Journal. Likewise, she has received several awards (e.g., Best Paper Award, EURAM Conference 2023 (Family Busines Research SIG), Best Reviewer Award, EURAM Conferences 2023, 2022 (Family Business Research SIG), Best Paper on Gender Diversity. 2021 IFERA Conference, Best Research on Diversity in the Firm. 16th Annual FERC Family Enterprise Research Conference, Family Business Review 2021 Excellent Reviewer, Best Reviewer IFERA Conference 2019, 2020, Outstanding Reviewer AOM Conference 2018, Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing at Journal of Business Research 2017, several awards ACEDE conference, award XVIII Luso-Spanish Seminar on Business Economics 2016, etc.). Her work has been cited in internationally recognized journals. Maria J. Sanchez-Bueno has served as Associate Editor of BRQ Business Research Quarterly and Business Ethics: the Environment and Responsibility (JCR), she is Editorial Board Member in European Journal of Family Business, and she presents her research output at the main international conferences (AOM Annual Meeting, SMS Conference, IFERA, EURAM, EGOS, BAM, etc.), she takes part in research projects, she is a reviewer of several international journals (Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Family Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Family Business Strategy, Journal of International Business Studies, Small Business Economics, etc.) and conferences (e.g., AOM, IFERA, EURAM, etc.). Maria J. has carried out several research visits abroad and has accrued an impressive global network of co-authors (e.g., France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA). Related to her  international network and presence, she has delivered invited presentations around the world (e.g., Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Italy, Latinamerica, Monaco, Morocco, PortugalSweden, UK). 

She has been member of IFERA (International Family Enterprise Research Academy) Research Development Team, member of the Family Business Center (Family Business Expert) in Bratislava,  and member of Family Business Chair (UPV). She has been member of the Iberoamerican Management and Corporate Social Responsibility (RSC) Chair  (Santander Bank-Salamanca U.) (2008-2020).

Her teaching experience covers Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at various levels (undergraduate and Master), she is author of two books (Thomson Reuters, Civitas) and member of the MOOC "Inclusive Leadership", edX-UC3M). She has coordinated several innovation teaching projects, has received several teaching awards and has participate in several teaching conferences (nacional and international conferences).
