Ekonomiaz magazine has published the article “The drifting of longevity” of the professor and coordinator of the Master in Actuarial and Financial Sciences, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Miguel Rodr\u00edguez-Pardo.<\/p>\n
Ekonomiaz is a semi-annual magazine with international projection edited by the Basque Government since 1985 for the promotion of economic analysis and debate. The edition of the magazine that has just been published deals with “Aging and demographic changes”, a monograph in which different international frontline authors have intervened.<\/span><\/p>\n This work provides additional data that enables us to understand the magnitude of the challenge to\u00a0Spanish society, which, according to an OECD report, in 2050 will have 77 retirees for every 100 citi<\/span>zens of working age. For this reason, the latest projections of longevity improvements are analysed\u00a0<\/span>from the population demography, to define prospective scenarios of population structures in order\u00a0<\/span>to understand social inequities, which result in survival records not being homogeneous in plural so<\/span>cieties of the 21st century. In conclusion, he points out that the phenomenon of increased longevity\u00a0<\/span>presents a set of uncertainties, despite the slowdown in this decade, which makes it difficult to con<\/span>struct actuarial models for estimating the trend of statistically robust medium-long term survival im<\/span>provements. In addition, the aging economy must be the instrument that guarantees an intergenera<\/span>tional and intragenerational social pact, based on dignified old age, in any of the three stages: active\u00a0<\/span>retirees (the sixties), slower retirees (the seventies), needy retirees (eighty onwards).
