{"id":15989,"date":"2021-03-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/business.uc3m.es\/\/news-master\/uc3m-validates-its-subjects-with-the-vee-knowledge-of-the-soa\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T08:48:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T07:48:05","slug":"uc3m-convalida-sus-asignaturas-con-los-conocimientos-vee-de-la-soa","status":"publish","type":"news-master","link":"https:\/\/business.uc3m.es\/en\/news-master\/uc3m-convalida-sus-asignaturas-con-los-conocimientos-vee-de-la-soa\/","title":{"rendered":"UC3M validates its subjects with the VEE knowledge of the SOA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UC3M actuarial master&#8217;s degree studies meet the requirements of the three VEEs established by the SOA:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">1.<span style=\"white-space: pre;\">\t<\/span>Economics<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">2.<span style=\"white-space: pre;\">\t<\/span>Accounting and Finance<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">3.<span style=\"white-space: pre;\">\t<\/span>Mathematical Statistics<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The SOA is a North American Society of Actuaries of world prestige, its accreditation being essential to carry out the work of actuary in the US, Canada, Latin America and China.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: inherit;\">Professional certifications in the Society are earned by completing a rigorous examination system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: inherit;\">The first seven (&#8220;preliminary&#8221;) exams consist primarily of fundamental mathematics related to actuarial science, including probability, statistics, interest theory, life contingencies, and risk modeling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: inherit;\">Since July 2018, in addition to these seven exams, it is necessary to accredit the three VEE for the candidate to achieve associate status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: inherit;\">In Spain, only the Carlos III University of Madrid is authorized to officially take the SOA FM and P exams.
