On September 15, we had the presence on the campus of the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Mr. Jos\u00e9 Luis Escriv\u00e1, who, together with the Vice-Rector for Studies, Isabel Guti\u00e9rrez, and the Direction of the Master’s Degree, inaugurated the XIV Edition of the Master’s Degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences from the Carlos III University of Madrid.<\/p>\n
Mr. Escriv\u00e1’s talk was about \u201cPolicy Design in a Context of Uncertainty\u201d.<\/p>\n
After reviewing the evolution of uncertainty in recent years in an international context, Mr. Escriv\u00e1 detailed the differential elements at the time of decision-making in economic policy:<\/p>\n
1. EVIDENCE: SUPPORT IN HIGH-FREQUENCY DATA AND INFORMATION<\/p>\n
2. RESILIENCE: WELL-DESIGNED STRUCTURAL REFORMS<\/p>\n
3. CERTAINTY: ANCHORAGE OF EXPECTATIONS IN THE MEDIUM TERM<\/p>\n
At the end of the talk, a round of questions was opened in which the students had the opportunity to ask Mr. Escriv\u00e1 various questions related to the pension system.<\/p>\n
Jos\u00e9 Luis Escriv\u00e1 Belmonte is a Spanish economist, tax auditor, and politician, current Minister of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration of the Government of Spain since 2020.<\/p>\n
Economist of international prestige, expert in economic analysis and econometrics, he was president of the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) from 2014 to 2020. He has also served as president of the Network of Independent Fiscal Institutions of the European Union between 2015 and 2019.<\/p>\n
Other positions he has held include head of the Monetary Policy Division of the European Central Bank between 1999 and 2004 and director for the Americas of the Bank for International Settlements between 2012 and 2014.<\/p>\n
