It is our pleasure to introduce you to the Business UC3M blog (BUB), which is the joint blog of the Department of Business Economics and the INDEM Institute for Business Development of the
\nCarlos III University of Madrid
\n(UC3M).<\/p>\n
\nThe Business UC3M blog was created with two objectives. First, this blog
\naims to disseminate the research activity of the Department of
\nBusiness Economics of UC3M and the INDEM Institute. Our
\ndepartment is made up of researchers in the areas of
\nManagement, Finance, Accounting, and Marketing, with a profile
\nstrongly oriented towards research. This research profile
\nis supported by the quality and number of scientific publications in the
\nmost prestigious and high-impact international journals,
\npositioning us as the leading business department within public
\ninstitutions in Spain. In addition, the department has been
\nranked among the top 100 institutions in the world in the area of
\nAccounting and Finance, being the only Spanish institution that
\nappears in the 2014 QS World University Ranking. <\/p>\n
\nThe second objective of BUB is to provide evidence on the
\nbenefits that research in Business Economics generates for today’s
\nsociety. In this sense, the blog aims to remedy a criticism
\nshared with the academic world in general, and referring to the
\ninability of the University to transfer and disseminate the product of its
\nresearch to citizens. <\/p>\n
\nThe editorial line of our blog is structured in four axes. The
\nfirst consists of the most prestigious articles by
\nour researchers that have appeared in journals of recognized
\ninternational prestige. In each post we will approach the content of
\nthese research articles, trying to show in an accessible language
\nthe knowledge it provides. <\/p>\n
\nThe BUB is an inclusive tool, open to other institutions and
\nprofessionals from both the academic and private sectors. In this
\nsense, the second axis of our editorial line is made up of
\narticles written by personnel external to our institution and
\nwho, due to their academic or professional relevance, are invited to
\nwrite in our blog. <\/p>\n
\nFrom the BUB we also have a commitment to basic research. Thus,
\nthe third axis is oriented to all research
\ndeveloped by doctoral students and undergraduates who, due to their
\nimportance, may be of interest to the general public. <\/p>\n
\nFinally, the fourth axis is dedicated to those articles that
\nmay be of interest to the research community. This would include
\nall kinds of relevant news of open and diverse themes, and
\nwritten in an informal language. <\/p>\n
