Samira Reis is a professor in the Department of Business Economics and Deputy Director of the MBA program, both at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from Università Bocconi (Milan, Italy), and a degree and master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. During her doctoral studies, she held several research stays at the University of California, Los Angeles, the London Business School, and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. Her lines of research include organizational theory, corporate entrepreneurial activity, organizational ecology, identity, status, and stigma. Professor Reis often uses large-scale "big data" approaches and text analysis to study these topics. In addition, she is interested in various areas of knowledge, highlighting her studies in the television and film industries of the USA, Italy and Brazil. Her research appears in journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal.
She has been a professor of Business Planning and Entrepreneurship in the Master of Business Administration at the Università Bocconi. She currently teaches Strategic Management for undergraduates; Research in Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the doctoral program, and International Management for the Master in Management and the MBA.
