It is our pleasure to introduce you to the Business UC3M blog (BUB), which is the joint blog of the Department of Business Economics and the INDEM Institute for Business Development of the
Carlos III University of Madrid
(UC3M).
The Business UC3M blog was created with two objectives. First, this blog
aims to disseminate the research activity of the Department of
Business Economics of UC3M and the INDEM Institute. Our
department is made up of researchers in the areas of
Management, Finance, Accounting, and Marketing, with a profile
strongly oriented towards research. This research profile
is supported by the quality and number of scientific publications in the
most prestigious and high-impact international journals,
positioning us as the leading business department within public
institutions in Spain. In addition, the department has been
ranked among the top 100 institutions in the world in the area of
Accounting and Finance, being the only Spanish institution that
appears in the 2014 QS World University Ranking.
The second objective of BUB is to provide evidence on the
benefits that research in Business Economics generates for today’s
society. In this sense, the blog aims to remedy a criticism
shared with the academic world in general, and referring to the
inability of the University to transfer and disseminate the product of its
research to citizens.
The editorial line of our blog is structured in four axes. The
first consists of the most prestigious articles by
our researchers that have appeared in journals of recognized
international prestige. In each post we will approach the content of
these research articles, trying to show in an accessible language
the knowledge it provides.
The BUB is an inclusive tool, open to other institutions and
professionals from both the academic and private sectors. In this
sense, the second axis of our editorial line is made up of
articles written by personnel external to our institution and
who, due to their academic or professional relevance, are invited to
write in our blog.
From the BUB we also have a commitment to basic research. Thus,
the third axis is oriented to all research
developed by doctoral students and undergraduates who, due to their
importance, may be of interest to the general public.
Finally, the fourth axis is dedicated to those articles that
may be of interest to the research community. This would include
all kinds of relevant news of open and diverse themes, and
written in an informal language.
In recent years, other academic blogs of economic information have
appeared in the academic field. Our blog complements the existing
references in English will be accommodated in a flexible way. Also, as
is usual in this format, the management reserves the right to omit
those comments that it considers disrespectful or that violate the
dignity of the authors.
Finally, the creation of this blog is the product of the institutional
effort of the Department of Business Economics, and the INDEM
institute of UC3M.
