Intereses de Investigación

Strategic human capital, Entrepreneurship, Immigrants and Social Inequality, Technology and Innovation

Yoonha Kim is an Assistant Professor of Management in the Department of Business Administration at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Previously, she served on the faculty of Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Her research lies at the intersection of strategic management, international business, and entrepreneurship. She studies how firms evaluate, acquire, and deploy human capital in increasingly global labor markets, with particular attention to how foreignness, institutional and cultural distance, and labor-market frictions shape the allocation of talent. Her work examines when organizations overlook or misallocate immigrant talent, how these frictions redirect workers toward entrepreneurship and alternative career paths, and how firms can develop capabilities to recognize and integrate globally diverse talent as a source of competitive advantage. She also studies how entrepreneurship influences occupational and intergenerational mobility and how organizational and contractual arrangements shape economic opportunity.

Yoonha received her PhD and master’s degree from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Before pursuing her doctorate, she worked at Morgan Stanley in New York and earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University.
