All students can actively participate in the development of new high-tech companies, thanks to our collaboration with the university's business incubator.
All students can also apply their business plans to real high-tech patents developed by inventors affiliated with the university.
These initiatives have been nominated for the AMBA Award for Innovation in Business Schools 2020, one of the most prestigious innovation awards for MBA programs.
How we work
At the beginning of the MBA year, we organize a meeting with entrepreneurs and inventors where MBA students have the opportunity to learn more about the innovations being developed, their technical specifications, and, in particular, their commercial applications and potential. MBA students have direct access to all relevant information related to these technologies and obtain it from original sources (the inventors and entrepreneurs themselves).
Following this meeting, students meet to identify their interests and choose which innovations they want to work with. In the process, they interact further with the inventors and entrepreneurs and receive guidance from our expert tutors, who have practical experience in developing business projects. Once the projects have been chosen, each team of students works together to develop a business plan to help the entrepreneur boost their business or, in the case of patents, to help the inventors assess the commercial value of their invention.
The projects in which students have participated belong to a wide variety of areas and industries, such as photonics, aerospace, and health sciences. All projects are at the forefront of technological development and, therefore, offer excellent opportunities for practical learning.
This unique program is developed in collaboration with the UC3M Science Park, located in the “Leganes Tecnologico” business district of Madrid. The Science Park specializes in high-tech projects and is associated with the European Space Agency (ESA) as a Business Incubation Center. It is also a member of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP).

The UC3M MBA is one of the few MBA programs worldwide where students have the opportunity to actively participate in the development of high-tech start-ups.
This program, which has been nominated by the AMBA for its Business School Innovation Awards, connects MBA students with entrepreneurs and inventors who need expert advice to develop nascent business projects.
