Before joining this university, Jaime Rivera Camino worked as a Researcher in the Marketing-IAG Unit of the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). His comprehensive vision of the company has led him to acquire a multidisciplinary postgraduate education, which has resulted in two MBAs(1) and two doctorates. His first MBA was obtained at ESAN(2) (Lima-Peru) and the second, at the Université Catholique de Louvain (with honors of Grande Distinction). At this University, with a special grant from the Rector, he obtained his doctorate in Applied Economic Sciences(3) (specializing in Marketing) under the direction of Prof. Jean-Jacques Lambin(4). At the Universidad de Comillas (Madrid) he obtained his doctorate in Psychology(5), under the direction of Dr. d'État Rolando Arellano Cueva, from the Universidad de Laval-Quebec (Canada).

He began his academic and professional career as an Advisor in Educational Technology and Specialist in Trainer Training, for the National University of Piura (Peru). At that time he also worked as a business consultant in the area of Marketing and Sales, an experience that was later complemented by that of senior consultant(6) at SEI (Servicios Ejecutivos Internacionales). As a professor in marketing and organization, he began at ESAN. Here he acted as a professor in the MBA, PADE-Marketing and Executive Specialization programs. In addition to having served as coordinator of the Advanced Program in Marketing, he has also been a professor of the courses: Strategic Marketing Planning, International Negotiations, Sales Management, Organizational Behavior and Consumer Behavior.

During the last years, he has combined his research work with the organization and management of bilateral cooperation projects between the EU and Latin America. Due to his comprehensive training, he participated as an EU expert in Marketing and Organizational Design for the design of programs in training of trainers and the creation of Business Schools, in Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador and Peru.

He has combined this teaching experience with consulting and training work for executives of different multinational companies (Rank-XEROX-Belgium, IBM-New York, Carvajal de las Américas, Cervecería Paraguaya, Nacional-Panasonic); as well as visiting professor of ESAN in Lima and EDAN in Paraguay, UCUDAL in Uruguay, CEFE in Ecuador, Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico and Arizona State University in USA(7). He has also developed research(8) in various industrial sectors and in various marketing applications such as: population policies, market entry strategies, competitiveness assessment and marketing plan design.

Author of 4 marketing books(9) he has 27 publications in journals such as Eco-Management and Auditing, European Journal of Marketing, Gestión 2000, Geneva Papers Risk and Insurance, International Journal of Management, Revista Europea de Dirección y Economía de la Empresa, Investigaciones Europeas de Dirección y Economía de la Empresa, ESIC-Market.

Currently his research and teaching work(10) is focused on the ADI cycle of business competitiveness: auditing, design and implementation of competitive market strategies(11), as well as the use of information technologies for the development of virtual communities of university and postgraduate training(12).

He is a professor in the doctoral program of the University of Salamanca and an evaluating member of DEA works of the Complutense University of Madrid; member of the Editorial Board of ESIC-Market(13) and General Coordinator of the Education for Management program (Real Colegio U. Complutense/Harvard University-USA).

He has also collaborated in studies for the World Health Organization (Peru-USA), the LUNA-HORIZON Community Program (Spain-EU) and the Eurobarometer project (network of 11 European universities).
