María José Sánchez Bueno holds a PhD in Business Management from the University of Salamanca and is currently a Tenured Professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid (accredited as a University Professor by ANECA since 2021).
Her research areas (family business, strategy) have led to scientific results that have been reflected in articles published in some of the most prestigious international journals in the field of Business/Management (included in recognized international rankings such as Financial Times (FT), UT Dallas, ABDC, ABS, etc.) (for example, British Journal of Management, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Family Business Review, Group and Organization Management, Human Resource Management Journal, International Business Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of World Business, Organization Studies, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Strategic Management Journal, etc.), as well as in papers presented at the most representative scientific conferences in this field of knowledge (AOM Annual Meeting, SMS Conference, IFERA, EURAM, EGOS, BAM, etc.). María José Sánchez Bueno is also an evaluator of several specialized indexed journals (Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Family Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Family Business Strategy, Journal of International Business Studies, Small Business Economics, etc.), has been part of the research team of various projects and has received several awards that represent recognition in terms of research excellence (Best Paper Award, EURAM Conference 2023 (Family Busines Research SIG), Best Reviewer Award, EURAM Conferences 2023, 2022 (Family Business Research SIG), Best Paper on Gender Diversity. 2021 IFERA Conference, Best Research on Diversity in the Firm. 16th Annual FERC Family Enterprise Research Conference, Family Business Review 2021 Excellent Reviewer, Best Reviewer 2019 and 2020 IFERA Conferences, Outstanding Reviewer AOM Conference 2018, Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing at Journal of Business Research 2017, various ACEDE Congress awards, XVIII Luso Spanish Seminar on Business Economics Award 2016, etc.). She has been Associate Editor at BRQ Business Research Quarterly and Business Ethics: the Environment and Responsibility, Editorial Board Member at European Journal of Family Business (all internationally indexed). She is currently an Associate Editor at Long Range Planning (ABS 4), is part of several editorial boards, and is a member of several international scientific associations. Maria J. has made several research visits to foreign institutions and has achieved an impressive global network of co-authors (e.g., USA, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland). In relation to her strong international trajectory, she has participated as an invited speaker at scientific events in multiple countries (e.g., Germany, Australia, Belgium, France, India, Italy, Latin America (various countries), Morocco, Monaco, Portugal, United Kingdom, Sweden).
She is a member of the IFERA (International Family Enterprise Research Academy) Research Development Team, a member of the Family Business Center (Family Business Expert) in Bratislava, a member of the Family Business Chair of the UPV, contributing to the transfer of knowledge to society. She has been a member of the Ibero-American Chair of Business Management and CSR (Banco Santander-U. Salamanca) (2008-2020).
Her teaching activity focuses on the field of Strategic Management and Business Creation (Entrepreneurship). She is the author of two books on Business Management (Thomson Reuters) and a member of the MOOC "Inclusive Leadership" (edX-UC3M). She has received several awards for teaching excellence, has coordinated several teaching innovation projects, and has participated in several teaching conferences/workshops (national and international).
