Green Finance: Recent Advances in Financial Products

The professor of the master’s degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences at UC3M, Juan Ignacio Peña, teaches from today a Green Finance course organized by the School of Actuarial and Financial Practice of the Institute of Spanish Actuaries.

The course aims to describe recent advances in the design and valuation of financial products that help promote an Environmentally Sustainable Economy (EMS).

The points to be discussed are:

  1. The current situation of green financial products and their prospects.
  2. The basic concepts for the valuation of sustainable investments such as the Levelized cost of energy (LCOE), market value, and value factors and how they are applied to the study of the investment situation in renewable energy in Spain, Germany, France, and the UK.
  3. The different types of long-term Power Purchase Agreements, the valuation methods, the risk factors that determine their evolution, and the available market references.

The course will take place at the virtual training classroom of the Institute of Spanish Actuaries (Webex) on May 10, 17, and 24, with a total duration of 6 hours.
