Forbes ranks UC3M among Spain’s leading universities in educational innovation

Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) is among Spain’s leading universities in educational innovation, according to the latest Forbes list of the ten most cutting-edge national academic institutions in this field. The magazine places UC3M at the top of the national innovation rankings and describes it as “one of the leading institutions in the Community of Madrid in the use of generative AI, applying a humanistic approach, putting AI at the service of people, and aligning with the recommendations of international institutions.”

Forbes magazine recognizes institutions that are redefining their educational models to meet the evolving demands of the job market. The publication focuses on universities’ ability to anticipate the structural changes driven by technology and their capacity to adapt their educational methodologies, integrating tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other transversal skills, such as critical thinking, adaptability to new environments, and lifelong learning.

In this regard, UC3M’s commitment to the dual specialization stands out, a model that responds to the need to connect the university with the productive fabric by integrating academic teaching and training in companies through a paid employment contract.

One of the leading examples of this approach is the new Bachelor’s Degree in Quantum Technology Engineering at UC3M, a pioneering program in Spain that will allow students to take courses directly at leading companies like INDRA and public entities such as the Spanish Defense Systems Engineering Institute (ISDEFE). Furthermore, to facilitate international mobility, these studies will be offered bilingually and will feature internationally renowned faculty. Its multidisciplinary educational model is also noteworthy.

The dual specialization will also be incorporated into the Electrical Engineering Degree at UC3M next academic year, enabling students to complete part of their studies in a company.

In this edition, UC3M ranks third, behind only the University of Granada (UGR) and Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX). The Forbes list also highlights the role of the Community of Madrid as a leading educational ecosystem, as seven of the ten universities included in the ranking are located in the region.
