Quantum Software
Researchers at the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) have developed an international marketing simulation game called QUANTUM, where students compete as marketing directors of a large company.
This educational software tool allows its users to assimilate fundamental concepts about decision-making and strategic marketing management, and to develop practical skills in the management of companies operating in international markets. The competition takes place between companies that are managed by teams of students and operate in the same sector from different countries, through analytical models derived from academic research. The academic rigor and added fun motivate students in this type of competition.
It is an ideal tool for a profession like marketing, which is rapidly evolving as it faces the dynamics of international networks and strong technological innovations, and it also adapts to the e-learning environment. This method can be used by undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive students, because all that is required is to determine the different degrees of complexity. In addition, it works in both Spanish and English so that it can be used in bilingual degree programs.
The Quantum software consists of 2 programs that can be installed on computers with Windows or macOS. The instructor completely controls the game through the “Quantum Teacher” program. The student makes decisions in the “Quantum Student” program, which can be installed on any device to do the work comfortably. Both programs are autonomous, but mutually compatible.

QUANTUM is proprietary software of its three authors, although since its inception in 2007 it has been used with a freeware license in the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, as well as in various postgraduate programs at UC3M.
