Her teaching focuses on general management, organizational theory and design, in both undergraduate and doctoral courses. Her research interests are focused on organizational theory and strategic management. Her research explores temporal and spatial competitive dynamics, and their effects on the results of organizations facing radical internal innovations, institutional changes, and technological discontinuities.
Her works have been published in leading journals in the field of business management such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies or the Academy of Management Review.
She has been vice president of the European Academy of Management (2000-2007) and of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management (1998-2004). Isabel was director of the Department of Business Economics of the Carlos III University during the period 1996-2001.
