The paper "Product-Market Competition and Resource Redeployment in Multi-Business Firms" by UC3M Business Raffaele Morandi, and coauthors Juan Santaló and Marco Giarratana from IE Business School, has been accepted for publication and it is now forthcoming in the Strategic Management Journal. The paper investigates how diversified firms react to increases in foreign competition due to import tariff cuts. In particular, the authors show that after a tariff cut firms tend to allocate more financial resources to the business affected and less to the businesses unaffected. This behavior also appears to be positively associated with firm performance.
