The Department of Business Administration of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid includes the areas of Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing. It is positioned among the 20 best European business schools for its research output (according to the ranking of the University of Texas at Dallas, based on publications in top tier journals). At the national level, the Department ranks first among the business departments of Spanish public universities (Eduniversal ranking). The Department has an international faculty that is committed to high standards of research and teaching.
Our faculty members publish their research in the top journals in their respective disciplines, which reflects their commitment to high quality research. Such journals include The Academy of Management Journal, The Accounting Review, Econometrica, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Management Science, Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal and Review of Financial Studies. The Department hosts regular seminars and visits by internationally renowned professors who present their work and closely interact with the faculty and PhD students.
The Department provides high quality undergraduate teaching to thousands of students who have graduated since 1990. The excellent reputation of our faculty, an innovative curriculum, and the offering of many English programs attracts first‐rate students to our programs. This fact is recognized by being ranked consistently first in Spain in the Business Administration and Finance & Accounting (FICO) degrees in the widely recognized ranking of the newspaper El Mundo and by receiving students from all over Spain with high scores in the university entry exam (the entry grades required in the abovementioned degrees are the highest in Spain for those degrees). The quality of our programs has allowed us to place some of our students in top graduate programs in Europe and the USA, such as LSE, MIT, North Carolina or Harvard.
The Business Department also offers high quality professional master programs (MBA, Master in Finance, Master in Human Resources, Master in Management and Master in Marketing). All of them are taught in English and attract a broad base of international students. The department has a strong commitment with the training of future researchers through the research master (Master in Business & Finance) and the PhD. Its quality is assessed by the placement of our PhD students to very good European universities, such as Bristol, IE, IESE, Lancaster, Nova de Lisboa or Tilburg, among many others.
