UC3M Business professors receive awards for their research

Publication of the winners of the UC3M Business Research Award 2023: Prof. Gemma Berenguer receives the UC3M Award for Excellence; Prof. Marco Giometti receives the Juan de la Cierva grant.

Family businesses have more incentives to avoid labor practices such as layoffs, which can damage the affective value that the family has invested in the company, undermine its reputation and project a pejorative image within its community. That is one of the conclusions of an international research project involving the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), which analyzes whether companies controlled by a family offer greater job security compared to non-family businesses.

Co-authored with Prof. Juan Ángel Lafuente (UJI), the book examines options for retirees to supplement their pension by using housing as an asset.
