Living the Experience of Entrepreneurship (4th Edition)

The workshop will be held virtually on October 4 and 5, 2021, with the participation of some of the most prominent researchers and professionals, both Spanish and international. This is a hybrid event with excellent speakers from the academic and business world. Participants include Alfredo De Massis (Free University Bozen-Bolzano), Andrea Calabò (IPAG Business School), Marta García Mandaloniz (UC3M), Hugo Taracido (VT Sports), Belén Elisa Díaz (España Creativa), Rodrigo Bernardez (Pilatus Brand), SEI.

Organizing committee: María J. SÔnchez-Bueno and Fernando Muñoz-Bullón from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. The event is jointly organized by the Institute for the Development of Companies and Markets (INDEM), the Department of Business Economics, and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Service (SEI) of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and focuses on key issues of entrepreneurship and family business.

Family businesses lay off fewer workers, according to a study

Family businesses have more incentives to avoid labor practices such as layoffs, which can damage the affective value that the family has invested in the company, undermine its reputation and project a pejorative image within its community. That is one of the conclusions of an international research project involving the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), which analyzes whether companies controlled by a family offer greater job security compared to non-family businesses.
