In an extraordinary meeting on December 9, the Governing Board of the Institute of Spanish Actuaries unanimously agreed to propose the actuary José Miguel Rodríguez-Pardo, titular member 800 of the Institute, as a representative in the Technical Commission for the analysis of the hypotheses in which bases the elaboration of the biometric tables.
José Miguel Rodríguez-Pardo coordinated the Institute's working group that advised the General Directorate of Insurance and Pension Funds between 2018 and 2020 in the process of reviewing the biometric tables. Likewise, he is the President of the School of Actuarial and Financial Practice of the Institute of Actuaries and Coordinator, Tutor of Practices and Tutor of TFM in the Master's Degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences at the Carlos III University of Madrid.
The appointment was made effective by Resolution of December 17, 2021, of the General Director of Insurance and Pension Funds, by which the members of the Technical Committee for "the analysis of the hypotheses on which the preparation of biometrics tables in the insurance sector is based" are appointed.
In the words of the professor: “representing the Institute of Spanish Actuaries in the Technical Commission of biometric tables is an honor and responsibility in the trust that the DGSFP has shown in the Institute as a guarantor of technical competence and independence. The active participation of the actuarial profession in decision-making forums related to biometrics is a recognition of the previous work carried out by the Institute as an advisor in the recent process of developing survival tables. Our purpose is to contribute to the objectives of the Commission by providing the best actuarial practices and complying with the criteria of professional ethical deontology”.
