Last April we had the presence on campus of Eduardo Serrano, Head of the Reserving Department at VidaCaixa, alumni of the Carlos III University of Madrid and one of the leading experts in IFRS 17 in Spain, Alberto Hernández, Reserving actuary IFRS17 and Ester Mayol, Human Resources Business Partner and coordinator at VidaCaixa.

After a brief presentation of the company, the different business areas and the percentage of actuaries in each of them, the talk focused on the new IFRS 17 Standard.

IFRS 17 establishes the principles for the recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure of insurance contracts. Its objective is to ensure that relevant information is provided and that this information faithfully represents the contracts.

IFRS 17 is expected to establish consistent measurement criteria, improving the usefulness, transparency and comparability of the financial statements of entities worldwide.
