Last December, the presentation of the EY company took place in the Master's program.
The presentation was given by:
They began the presentation of EY by explaining that it is a global company with a strong international presence that provides professional services to other companies thanks to the expertise of its employees in different lines of business: audit and financial advice, law (legal and tax), strategy ( mergers and transactions) and consultancy (technology and business consulting) in which the actuarial profile is included. Its main clients are financial entities.
They explained the process of career development and training in the company and the selection process.
They then commented on how the actuary has been expanding as a professional (multidisciplinary profile) in different sectors, although they focus mainly on insurance ("life", "Non-life", pensions, etc.) and support other areas such as M&A or Audit. To explain what an actuary does, they explained that the two main areas of activity in the firm are reserves, technical provisions and pricing, highlighting the projects in IFRST 17, Solvency II, M&A, among others. Next, they explained the structure of the EY actuarial department in Spain, which is constantly growing and therefore requires new professionals. They also commented on a specific case of project development to exemplify the daily life of an actuary.
Rubén and Jacinto as former students of the UC3M Master's program in Actuarial Sciences explained their access and position in the firm.
Finally, a question and answer session was opened to clarify doubts and provide more information to the attendees.
