The speakers, Matías Cajigao, Efrén Manuel Hernández, and Pablo Ruiz, commenced by introducing Management Solutions as a consulting firm that began with 80 employees and has managed to continue growing and expanding its workforce, with its primary roots in Spain. They emphasised its international presence and how its projects are implemented across the globe.
They then elaborated on the various facets of the company's business lines within regulated industries (Insurance, Energy, Telecommunications, and Banking) and outlined the projects for which the company's actuaries are accountable. These included IFRS 17, Solvency II, claims provisioning, pricing, and, as a new venture, projects associated with climate risks. They introduced the concept of "Sustainability" and, through case studies, elucidated the different potential scenarios and the methodology for assessing climate impact, demonstrating how both physical and transition risk measurements are conducted to forecast the outcomes that would arise under a specific scenario and timeframe (climate shock). They then addressed questions posed by some students regarding the topics covered, and finally, they discussed matters about everyday business operations and the hiring, promotion, and training processes within the firm.
