
Javier Olaechea, Director General of the Institute, presented the Institute of Spanish Actuaries as a professional association whose objective is to strengthen and develop the profession by contributing to the creation of a more just and equitable society. With a scientific character, its vision and strategic plan encompass functions such as regulating actuarial study plans (it also advocates for continued training), defending the interests of consumers and users, collaborating with the Public Administration and regulating professional activity (professional ethics within the actuarial field that includes a professional code of conduct with principles such as: integrity, competence and diligence, regulatory compliance, objectivity and impartiality and communication).
In addition, the speaker made special reference to the degree of satisfaction that current members have within their professions (consulting, banking, pensions, etc.), as well as to matters related to remuneration and job stability. He also emphasized that the Spanish actuary is a very well-trained professional whose prestige is spread throughout Europe.
Finally, there was talk about the CERA (Certified Enterprise Risk Actuary) as a risk management credential that the Institute of Actuaries helps to obtain and how Artificial Intelligence is beginning to be and will be a tool that the institute wants to regulate for the correct development of different businesses.
