UC3M Actuarial Master students are the winners of the UB Zurich Challenge 2021

The Challenge program is an academic activity of the UB-Zurich Chair that aims to provide students from all Spanish universities that offer an Official Master's program in Actuarial and Financial Sciences an opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge to a real problem, under the supervision of professionals from the insurance sector.

In this eighth edition, thirty-two students organized into seven teams, from four different universities (Carlos III University of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Barcelona, University of the Basque Country), have worked for four weeks in the study of the case entitled “Home insurance: new challenges and trends in a changing and uncertain environment”, with the support of a team of tutors from Zurich Seguros coordinated by Mr. Alex Aguyé Casademunt, Director of Non-Automobile Personal Lines Subscription & Product Workshop.

The winning team is made up of Carlos Vicente, Gonzalo Pérez, Joe Hidalgo, Sebastián Uribe, Silvia Collado and Juan Sánchez and their proposal has been based on improving the pricing of household products through photogrammetry and the use of drones.

Also special mention to other finalist teams from our university. The first composed of David Granero, Gonzalo Barroso, Rocío Masia, Sonia Rubio, Pedro García and Victoria Muñoz, who have focused their work on offering solutions to teleworking caused by the pandemic. And the second by Nicolas Chávez and Yesenia Canessa who have proposed a monitoring system to assess the impacts and opportunities of economic crises.

Congratulations to all the participants, enjoy the experience!
